Description
Discover Sound Healing, an ancient technique to activate the body’s system of self-healing that uses tonal frequencies to bring the mind to a restorative state and the body into a state of vibrational balance and harmony. Join us as sound healer guide, singer, reiki practitioner Eileen Meilenhausen leads 3 weekly sessions outdoors at the gardens of the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center. (Sessions will move inside in case of inclement weather.) Each week participants will engage in 3 different Sound Healing techniques:
Week 1 - September 2, 2021 - Sound Bath Meditation: Reconnection
- in the healing sounds of crystal & Tibetan singing bowls, seedpods, shells, bells, rattles and drums. With deep breathing, guided meditation, and sound vibrations, participants will be invited to rest, to receive and to reconnect with body, mind, spirit, and in this safe space reconnect with others. Let your body gently relax and your mind empty, facilitating realignment, release, and healing.
Week 2 - September 9, 2021 - Raise Your Vibration with Drumming
In this upbeat program we will raise positive vibrations and balance & ground your energy using the rhythms and techniques of hand-drumming. Participants will also be invited to improvise in a sound healing “drum jam.” Bring a djembe, ashiko, or other hand drum if you have one; extra drums and percussive instruments will be available to share.
Week 3 - September 16, 2021 - Singing Your Way Through
Music can touch the places we have no words for. And songs can help us express just about every emotion, our full range of experiences, our joys and losses. Together we will create a safe circle to use our voices in expressing anything that needs to be expressed—speaking, sounding, and singing our way through whatever we are dealing with right now. Participants will be gently encouraged to create sounds and sing along to some lovely & lively songs of healing, joy, comfort, community, gratitude, transitions, power and peace from various cultures. No singing experience needed!
A former English teacher and librarian, Eileen Meilenhausen has offered Reiki energy healing sessions since 2015. She has studied sound healing with James Ballard and Sarah Benson, among others. She enjoys singing with Women with Wings, Misty Mountain Singers and has performed in public many times as a singer, drummer, poet and speaker. Honoring the power of the drum for healing, Eileen has coordinated numerous 8,000 Sacred Drums ceremonies on the coast of Maine since 2008 and has participated in and/or presented drum programs since 1996. She feels blessed to share her passions with others!
